Got up this morning to rip out the cabinets, sink, plumbing, and stove. Turned off the hot water line, and the gate valve is broken- so I couldn't turn it off. Decided to try replacing the core of the valve. Got the valve at Lowe's and got home to install. Looked at the existing locations of the hot water line- it's set off so far to the left of the sink base cabinet it's in the 12" cabinet to its left.
I have to re-route the hot water line (if not both lines.) The good news is I can replace the old valve and piping pretty easily, I just have to learn how to do it.
