The last piece of sheet rock in the den went up last night. Now it's time to finish the tape and mud, then the trim, then the paint. And after all of that, I can move back into the den, with the couches, coffee table, and the tv. I can also hook up the new home theater surround sound thingie. As luck would have it, I bought the home theater, got it home, hooked everything up in a temporary location, and it wouldn't power on. So I had to take everything apart and now I have to take it back to get a new one. ARGH!!
I also have to build the corner unit. I had planned to build it into the wall but decided to build two separate platforms that will each sit on a set of lag bolts on each side, so it's removable in case someone wants to take it out one day. Methinks it was a pretty good solution to the problem of making it permanent... It also makes it easier to finish and paint the walls behind it. Photos of that to come.
Soon I will have pictures of the completed room in all of its painted, trimmed, and occupied glory.

ouch.
I started playing in an indoor soccer league last Friday. I played soccer as a kid, and then in college I used to goof around with some of my roommates and friends. I thought it would be fun and it would be something to do other than ride my bike and go to the gym.
First half in last week's 9-2 loss, the whistle blew and I stopped quickly to turn around, and jammed my knee. Last night I played again, and I am pretty sure that, other than it not being a good idea, I have tweaked it a little further.
The pain is coming from the fibular attachment of my Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL). It's a rarely-injured ligament, and it appears that some ice and ibuprofen will probably get it back to normal.
But it hurts. Walking in a straight line is no problem, but any torsion or force against it is pretty uncomfortable.
